Aurangabad/Ajanta

Kicked off the coach by the overweight, horrible ticket-man we arrived at the hotel Panchavati around 7am. After a short nap, we underwent the 3 hour bus trip to Ajanta, to see the Buddhist caves.

The caves, housing incredibly carved temple complexes, were constructed between the 2nd century BC and 6th C AD, and were forgotten from the 11th century until 1819 when they were rediscovered by a British hunting party.

Set into a horseshoe-shaped cliff, and with many of the original frescoes still remaining, they're truly spectacular - only photos/selfies can begin to do them justice.

That evening, we had an overpriced, MSG-laden Chinese dinner, both leaving the dinner genuinely bummed out, for the first time in India, at being ripped off so. We stole a load of loo roll as revenge, but still felt brue.

With love
